Neera is committed to creating a safe collaborative space where each person feels heard and supported. She works with patients to recognize their strengths, build practical strategies, and deepen insight in ways that promote personal growth and emotional well-being.
Neera’s clinical focus includes anxiety, depression, emotional neglect, grief, trauma, and life transitions. She draws on motivational interviewing, behavioral therapies (CBT, DBT, ACT), and psychodynamic approaches to support meaningful and lasting change.
Neera has worked at the Samaritans of New York hotline, supporting callers experiencing suicidal ideation, as well as supervising and training volunteers. She has been a Disaster Action Team (DAT) responder with the American Red Cross, providing assistance to New Yorkers displaced by fires and other emergencies. She also served as a Volunteer Advocate with the Mount Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Program (SAVI), offering emotional support and crisis intervention to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and intimate partner violence in emergency departments across New York City.
In addition to Neera’s areas of special focus, she is qualified and experienced in treating a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic, OCD, PTSD, trauma, grief, burnout, couples and family issues, relationship difficulties, personality disorders, eating disorders, addictive disorders (including alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, and food), ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dissociative disorders, psychotic disorders, chronic illness adjustment, sleep disorders, somatic conditions, work and career stress, identity and existential concerns, perfectionism, cultural and racial identity stress, and life transitions. Using an eclectic range of evidence-based approaches, she provides compassionate, individualized care tailored to every patient she serves.
Neera holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lehman College, a Master of Library Science from Queens College, and a Master of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Baruch College.
