Samantha Mayor

Psychotherapist for Adolescents, Adults, Couples and Families

Samantha takes a collaborative, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach to therapy, grounded in the belief that each person is more than a diagnosis, label, or single life experience. She creates a safe and supportive environment where patients feel respected and comfortable speaking openly about what they are carrying. Samantha works collaboratively with patients to identify existing strengths, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful change aligned with their values and goals.

Samantha’s clinical work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Informed Care. She is particularly interested in working with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief, as well as those navigating relationship challenges, identity concerns, and major life transitions. Samantha helps patients better understand the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, develop greater flexibility in managing difficult experiences, and take meaningful steps toward lives that reflect what matters most to them.

Samantha has a particular interest in how trauma, loss, and social and cultural environments shape emotional well-being. Her graduate work exploring the psychological impact of community gun violence on adolescents and cultural and religious perspectives on death, dying, and grief informs her sensitive and individualized approach to trauma and loss.

In addition to Samantha’s areas of special focus, she is qualified and experienced in treating a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic, OCD, PTSD, trauma, grief, burnout, couples and family issues, relationship difficulties, personality disorders, eating disorders, addictive disorders (including alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, and food), ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dissociative disorders, psychotic disorders, chronic illness adjustment, sleep disorders, somatic conditions, work and career stress, identity and existential concerns, perfectionism, cultural and racial identity stress, and life transitions. Using an eclectic range of evidence-based approaches, she provides compassionate, individualized care tailored to every patient she serves.

Samantha has a strong foundation in mental health counseling through her formal training at Fordham University and has completed training in suicide prevention. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business in Finance and International Business with a minor in Psychology from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Her professional experience in account management has given her insight into communication, interpersonal dynamics, and the demands of fast-paced professional environments. Samantha also has experience working with young children, supporting the development of emotional regulation, conflict resolution, empathy, and communication skills.
